About Us

Our Intention

A Place That Brings Us All Alive

Our intention for Allsta Gård is that it becomes a place that supports aliveness in all of its shapes and forms. Whether for individual people, groups, the local community, or the ecosystem itself, we hope that the farm provides a space for connection, inspiration, healing and growth for the entangled web of beings that interact with us and the farm.

Our Story

A Family Affair

We moved to Allsta Gård in December 2024. Prior to that we spent more than a year of searching around Sweden for a small farm where we could integrate our life and work. When we finally stumbled across Allsta Gård, we found everything we were looking for and more. You can read more about our journey here (in English) and here (in the Swedish newspaperTidningen Ångermanland).

Alex is Swedish-American and has lived in the US, UK, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. As a coach and therapist he is dedicated to helping people unfold more of who they are. He is the co-founder of Yellow and the author of the book On Relationality.

Jana is originally from Germany. At Allsta Gård the threads of her life’s adventures come together: cooking in a food truck, working on farms, studying art, working as a teacher,
training in yoga and Thai Yoga Massage, experimenting in ceramics, and searching for the good life.

Rio is a trilingual three-year old boy that loves cars, tractors, and animals. (He feels right at home in the countryide).

Allsta Gård's History

A Rich History

As far back as records go, Allsta Gård was owned by the Westman family. They owned a large piece of the adjacent forest and used the farm as a place to process timber. In 1994 the property (without the forest) was sold to Hans Nolén and Inger Holmberg, a couple skilled in carpentry, organic gardening and farming. Hans and Inger transformed Allsta Gård into a vibrant farm, with sheep, pigs, lamas and chickens as well as abundant vegetables and berries. In 2014 they completed the five-year construction of the Eco House, a project carried out by themselves with help from friends. This became the new heart of the farm and provided an opportunity to run a B&B, café, restaurant and meeting venue for local gatherings.

Activities & Facilities

Enjoy Regenerative Experiences During Your Stay

Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is a gentle 1-on-1 bodywork modality. It is often referred to as "yoga for lazy people" or a "sacred dance". You wear comfortable clothing and lie on a large mat where you are guided relaxing and stretching positions. Read more here.

Nourishing Homegrown Food

We have a vibrant vegetable garden and try to use as many products grown on the farm as we can. If not, we use organic and/or local ingredients whenever possible. Our breakfast includes homemade sourdough bread and eggs from our pasture-raised chickens.

Coaching, Workshops & Family Constellations

We provide opportunities for personal regeneration through coaching and therapy sessions, inspirational workshops, and family constellations. Read more about Alex's work here.

Pastured Laying Hens

We have more than thirty hens that provide eggs for the farm and manure for the the fields and gardens. We move them around every couple of days so that they get fresh grass and they fertilize the fields evenly. Feel free to say hello to our feathered friends.

Yoga & Meditation

We offer morning yoga and/or meditation sessions if there is enough interest from guests (minimum four people). We have yoga mats available if you would like to practice yoga in the morning sun on your own.

Garden Help

There is lots to do on the farm, and we always appreciate a helping hand. Guests often report that their favorite part of their stay was helping out in the garden or stacking wood for the winter. If you want spend some time getting out of your mind and into your hands, just let us know.

Bike Rental

We have four bicycles with helmets available for rent. There are several scenic routes close by and plenty of spots for swimming and enjoying a picnic. We can provide packed lunches upon request.

Offsites, Conferences, and Meetings

We love to host groups that want to have spend time together in nature with organic food and inspirational content.

Testimonials

What Our Guests Are Saying About Their Stay

Extremely cozy and peaceful atmosphere. Alex and Jana were amazing hosts, and were helpful, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. The included breakfast was delicious and we were also offered a three course dinner in the evening by Jana, who is an outstanding cook! Both meals blew us away and were prepared with fresh ingredients from their garden. The bed was very comfortable and all facilities fresh and clean. The whole place was clearly designed with a lot of thought, care, and style. We especially recommend this place to those looking to visit the nearby High Coast Distillery, which was what brought us to the area. We feel like we lucked out finding such a gem as Allsta Gård, and couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Fantastic coffee and a crackling fire in an incredibly beautiful modern house built with post and beam construction and clay. I bought some rustic sourdough bread to take home and will return. Child-friendly.

Comfortable B&B with a lot of nature (we spotted twelve moose during the 24 hours we were there). The hosts are prepared to walk the extra mile for their guests. I don’t hesitate to recommend this to people who are visiting the area and need a place to stay.

Allsta Gård is a real gem in a fabulously beautiful landscape. The owners gave an incredibly nice welcome and we felt really welcome. We got to taste the world's best buns and sourdough bread - absolutely unbeatable! We also bought eggs, celery, cabbage, garlic and aronia berries. Everything tasted fantastic, fresh and something completely out of the ordinary. Allsta Gård is a place we highly recommend and will definitely return to.
